Olive Oil Production (demonstration)

With the utmost care and attention, we retrieved our one hundred and thirty year-old olive press from the village of Vrouchas and carried it intact onto our Farm’s premises. Everything has been re-assembled as found in its original environment.

• You can assist in the process of the traditional olive oil production (first press)

• Olive oil tasting of our homemade products. (Olive oils, olive paste, different types of Greek olives, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, wine, raki and much more)

Cooking Lessons

​

Cretan “Diet” is well known all over the world. Despena from Kroustas village knows all the traditional cooking recipes and she will share with you all her “secrets”. We invite you to prepare some Cretan delicacies, such as stuffed vine leaves with tzatziki and local handmade pasta and more. Keep in mind that in that activity you will be Despenas’ assistants. When everything is ready you can enjoy the food accompanied with fresh products from our garden and a glass of Cretan wine or Raki.

Cheese Making

​

In our traditional farmstead, there is also a traditional cheese making area where our Shepard shows you how the local cheese of excellent quality is produced using the traditional methods. You can participate in this procedure and try the products.

Wine Festival Happening

​

Followed by live dancing and music*. The grapes are carried into the press and the dancers step on them in the “grapes dance”. Guests are invited to join in this “barefoot dancing” while the grape juice drops into the wooden canisters.
